[...] If this doesn’t settle the entire issue right now, I don’t know what does. This takes the euphemism, “crappy movie,” and ensconces it in literal truth. Harold Warren, the director, producer, writer and star, was in fact a local fertilizer salesman in El Paso, Texas. As the story goes, Warren was at a local coffee shop with screenwriter Stirling Silliphant and made a bet with him that he could make a movie all by himself. Warren then began to write an outline for “Manos” right there in the coffee shop on a napkin. He accumulated some $19,000 dollars to make the film, hired local theater actors, and began shooting in mid-1966. So, to come full circle on the whole making-a-bet thing, Harold Warren did in fact make a film – a film that is widely considered to be the worst movie ever made. The moral of the story is simple: if you’re a fertilizer salesman (and we know what fertilizer is made of) and you’re thinking about making a movie… stop right there. Compared to Hal Warren, Ed Wood is a veritable Christopher Nolan! [...]

[...] If anyone is giving away awards for director of the decade, I have to think Christopher Nolan is going to be pretty high on the list of candidates. With the addition of his latest film, Inception, he’s taken the concept of trippy, mind-bending, alternate realities to new levels… literally. Sadly, he’s only one man. Luckily, if you’re searching for more twisted worlds to explore, there are a lot of filmmakers out there creating worlds you can jump into, including the broken reality of Detective Paul Grunning in KoldCast TV’s dramatic thriller series Read ahead [...]

Too bad Nolan is an ideas man and not a "rehash crap that didn't work in the first place" man.

In fairness, I'm sure he's seen most of those and has been inspired in some way. though he is more forward thinking than i, it would be cool to see him take on new intellectual properties specifically the graphic novel "the arrival".

It's a large scale, simple story that would play well to his strengths.
