South Park, The Simpsons, Bugs Bunny, and Mickey Mouse have changed noticeably, but I don’t see any drastic changes with the rest.

This article is stupid. When a cartoon character is drawn thousands of times over half a century they tend to change, and as far as change goes these characters mostly stayed the same. Calling it “notable” is pointless because nobody notices or cares if Fred Flintstone’s eyes are one trillionth of an inch bigger than they were 50 years ago

What do you mean by “Steamboat Willie, represents some of the earliest animation on record”? The more than 25 years of cut-out and cartoon animation that preceded Steamboat Willie doesn’t count? You have to go here and watch some cartoons made between 1900-1921: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/browse/ListSome.php?format=Motion+Picture

Even here in Sweden we had a famous cartoon character between 1916 and 1921 called Captain Grogg. All those films are preserved and still available.

The Tom & Jerry “original 1963″ image is from one of the Gene Deitch series, when the MGM animation studio was shut down and they pawned the T&J animation off to… Czechslovakia (I kid not).

The original T&J designs are from the late 1930s and quite different from the Czech’s interpretation.

The Jetsons images are, indeed, both from the 90′s. I don’t think the ‘latest incarnation’ image of Scooby and the gang is up to date, either. There is a recent spin-off where the characters look quite different.

That picture of the jetson’s from “1962″ is actually the cover/poster for Jetson’s the movie, which was released in 1990. So is the picture below it.
