Emma Watson Details And Trivia

With an enviable role in one of the greatest movie franchises of all time, and new films already in production, Emma Watson is on Hollywood’s shortlist for everything from drama to romance. Her lauded portrayal of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series has shown audiences that she is a force to be reckoned with, much like the character she portrays.

It’s no surprise Watson, and her character of Hermione, have received so much attention. Female heroines are on the rise. From Jennifer Lawrence’s mutant, Mystique (X-Men: First Class), to Julie O’Halloran’s elf, Druinia (Spellfury), women in entertainment are portraying strong, smart characters that rival any male hero. But what makes Emma Watson stand out among all the rest?

Spellfury – Episode 1-3

Marathon Madam. It took eight auditions for the young Emma Watson to land the role of Hermione Granger – though it has been said that Harry Potter author JK Rowling wanted Watson for the role from the start. Harry Potter was her first acting gig apart from school plays.

Top of the Box Office and Top of the Class. Watson attended The Dragon School, a prestigious prep school in Oxford before transferring to nearby Headington School. She then went on to attend Rhode Island’s Ivy League University, Brown.

No One-Trick Pony. In addition to being a very talented actor, Watson has a slew of other skills. She’s won awards for jazz and freestyle dancing, played for her schools’ netball, tennis and field hockey teams, and has a SCUBA certification that allows her to dive anywhere in the world. n>

Budding Fashionista. Watson worked as a creative advisor to People Tree, a fair-trade clothing brand, and helped create their 2010 line. Watson said that studying art has made her appreciate fashion and that working with a line like People Tree was a great way to make humanitarian choices while still being trendy. She also models for Burberry and Lancôme.

Recession Proof. In 2009, Watson was Hollywood’s highest paid actress. She earned an estimated £20 million that year for her work in the final two Harry Potter films. She is the youngest actress to receive that honor. She is worth an estimated $32 million; and until she was 17 (6 years into her work with Harry Potter), she had no idea how much money was coming to her. When she finally asked her parents about it, she had been enjoying an allowance of $75 a week.

She’s Not Afraid of Intimacy. When it came time for Harry and Hermione to finally kiss, co-star Daniel Radcliff said he was expecting Watson to be tender about it, but Watson had other intentions. She wanted to make sure that Hermione’s kiss was appropriately antagonizing to the character of Ron Weasley – so she really went for it. She also thought that by just really going for it, they would have to do fewer takes. Said Radcliff, “She really went for it, I have to say. It caught me slightly off guard, but yeah, I’m not complaining. Many men would lose a limb to be in that position, so I was absolutely fine with it.”

Young Hottie. In addition to awards praising her talent and earning potential, Watson has also received other, less lofty, awards. At age 17, she was ranked #26 on Empire Magazine’s ’100 Sexiest Movie Stars’ (2007), and at age 18 Maxim magazine put her on its Hot 100 of 2008 list.

Not Rushed to Group Up. Although she was already a millionaire and internationally recognizable, Watson had to wait until she was fifteen before her parents allowed her to have her ears pierced.
