Honeymoon Destinations That Will Put You in the Mood

Honeymoon Destinations That Will Put You in the Mood
The Honeymoon is the beginning of that magical time after a couple says “I do” and before they say “I don’t anymore.” Like Simon and Rochelle from the series Road to the Altar, most couples suffer so many stresses during the wedding planning stages that a relaxing getaway is paramount to the success of a marriage. Like the wedding itself, there are traditions when it comes to Honeymooning. One of those traditions is picking an exciting and exotic locale to visit with your beloved. Are you approaching your nuptials or looking to spice up a stale marriage? Maybe you should consider these locations.

Acapulco
Acapulco is the perfect combination of beauty, luxury, relaxation and affordability. The city experiences 80-degree weather for most of the year, keeping its waters warm for swimming, snorkeling, skinny dipping and cliff diving. Newlyweds can book spectacular hotel rooms on secluded private beaches for much less than they would spend on such accommodations in the States.
Florence
The hometown of Michelangelo, the location of the Duomo and the center of the Italian Renaissance screams romance! You can’t go wrong visiting the place that Dante, Galileo Galilei, and Dontello chose to call home. Going to cobble-stoned Florence is like going back in time to the 14th century. Some of the most important pieces of art and architecture in the world can be found in Florence including Michelangelo’s David. When you’re done seeing the sights, you can relax over a meal of rustic Tuscan cooking and great Italian wine.
Paris
The city of lights features everything a newlywed couple could want: classic sights like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, amazing food, and rich culture all wrapped up in one of the most romantic cities in the world. Though the city is busy and bustling with more than 2 million people living in the city proper, you can still stand on one of its 37 historic bridges and watch the Seine roll along under you or cuddle up in a street-side cafe with a baguette and feel like you’re in your own little beret-wearing world.
Niagara Falls, Canada
There’s something nostalgic and old-school romantic about a honeymoon at Niagara Falls. The falls themselves are a stunning backdrop to the trip and when you’re done there, you can take your time exploring the cafes and shops in the quaint town of Niagara-on-the-Lake or ramp things up a bit at the Vegas-worthy Niagara Casino. You definitely won’t be overburdened by things to do at Niagara Falls, which gives you plenty of time to do other Honeymoon things… and a beautiful location to do them in.
Fiji
It’s hard to find a more amazing world destination than the island nation of Fiji. In this South Pacific country, crystal clear waters surround romantic cottage-hut resorts while local indigenous traditions provide just the right amount of exotic escape. You can get lost among the thousands of lush palm trees that dot white sandy beaches, explore beautiful coral reefs, play with dolphins in the clear blue sea, or pamper yourself in world-class spas.
Hawaii
Among the 8 main islands of the State of Hawaii there is something for everyone. Each island has its own personality, so a Honeymoon to Hawaii can be as diverse an experience as you want it to be. Island hopper planes make it easy to spend time on each island. You can have a rural, non-touristy adventure on Molokai where there are no big hotels or fast food restaurants. Kauai gives visitors a chance to explore endless amounts of canyons, hiking trails and rivers. Moneyed travellers can relax in the luxury of Lanai. You can check out active volcanoes, lush rainforests and snow-capped mountains on the Big Island, whale watch between rounds of golf on Maui, or enjoy active nightlife on Oahu.
Australia
Head down under for romance, Oz-style. In Australia, you can enjoy a big-city excursion in Sydney, go on safari in the Northern Territory, travel back in time with a stay in an 1840’s cottage in the Southern Highlands, or marvel at the alpine mountains and clear lakes in Tasmania. There is something for every Honeymoon taste and style in Australia.
Crete
The Greek island of Crete is as gorgeous as it is diverse and as romantic as it is gorgeous. On Crete, you can visit beaches, mountains, plains and bustling cities on the same vacation. Several cultures have left their stamp on the island, including Minoans, Venetians, Ottomans, and Greeks, which makes this locale rich in culture and history. The island goes from urban to rural as you travel North to South, so you can plan to ease into one scene or the other. Or, you can pop around the island for a trip that is as varied as the locale.
Las Vegas
What isn’t romantic about pure fun? When you’ve planned for the big day for months, dealt with distant relatives who are annoyed they weren’t invited, fought with parents over seating arrangements, and spent thousands of dollars on a dress she can only wear once, it’s time to let loose! Fun hotels, amazing shows, cheap food, and all night partying make Vegas a great place to celebrate your new life together. In fact, with hotels like The Paris and The Bellagio, it’s like you’ve gone on an international vacation without having to put your drink down.
