YouTube Show, App Attacks!, Signs Exclusive Distribution Deal with KoldCast TV

Deal represents a rare programming departure for KoldCast

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 9, 2011) – In a rare departure from its programming strategy, KoldCast TV has signed an exclusive 10-episode distribution deal with the producers of App Attacks!, an original online technology series which reviews tablet and smartphone apps for iOS and Android operating systems.

KoldCast has specialized in professionally-produced original short-form episodic programming, created by independent television producers, since its launch over five years ago. “Comedies, dramas, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, mysteries, lifestyle and travel shows, among other genres, produced by many of our industry’s brightest creative talents have, and will continue to be the foundation of our online television network. However, when App Attacks! co-producer Marc Ostrick introduced the show to us, our entire programming committee chuckled, and gave it a thumbs-up for distribution licensing, despite the fact that we hadn’t previously licensed a property nearly as organically-produced as App Attacks! is,” says Gregory Samuels, VP of Content Operations at KoldCast TV. “App Attacks! is a quintessential example of the low-cost/zero-cost style of video content, created by talented professionals but, most often lost among the mass of user generated content on YouTube, and sites created in YouTube’s image. We found App Attacks! surprisingly informative, funny and entirely entertaining so we immediately green-lighted the Show.”

After the release of 7 App Attacks! episodes, industry veterans Ostrick and co-producer Josh Levine turned to KoldCast for exclusive distribution. “We were keenly aware of KoldCast’s unique niche in the industry, their selective programming focus, and personal approach to conducting business,” Ostrick said. “Josh and I are excited to be a part of the KoldCast Family and hope this show helps to diversify their premium brand.”

The first 7 App Attacks! episodes will be non-exclusive to KoldCast TV, and the next 10 episodes will be exclusive to KoldCast. Today, Episode 8, SwiftKey X, premieres on KoldCast TV. Through Labor Day, additional episodes will be released approximately every 10 days.
